About three days ago, I successfully had store-bought peas germinated after drying them. At the time of posting, I also started the germination process of beans. Same, store-bought, regular green beans:

The green one isnt fresh, it is actually being in brown paper paper for a week or two, still could look like a fresh pod. The pods were very dry and snappy if I bent them.

This was how they looked when I opened them, and I was surprised to see the red/purple beans. At the time, I knew I was going to have the red ones germinated for sure, but surprise, a day after:

The white beans germinated before red! I was really thinking that Id probably have to discard the white beans, didnt believe they were viable seeds. Well, didnt really know what bean seeds looked like. Nevertheless, one and a half more day later, the white ones already in soil:

The beautiful red ones also germinated. Sadly, those teeny ones only got mushier, slimier, so they are going into compost.

All four germinated beans now in soil, and I learned not only I could grow store-bought peas, but also store-bought green beans.
